Mickleover Model Railway Group

Mickleover Model railway group was formed in 1965 by a group of like minded individuals from the local comminity with an interest in railways and model railways. Now 46 years later, the group still thrives and has grown to over 60 members most fo whom are local to derby together with a few that live further afield.

Based in the Horsa Building behind Mickleover Community Centre, the group meets regularly on week nights throughout the year. The aim of the club being to promote the hobby to new and existing members both young and old.

Members in the club have a wide background of experience both railway and non railway related and through this diverse mix of skills, our members are able to learn and develop new skills such as model making, painting, woodwork, electrical work etc.

The club is a non profit making organisation and holds two fundraising events per year to contribute to its running costs, these being the Derby Model railway exhibition and a smaller event in the community centre.
